Host it online
Put the quiz on a TV or projector. Everyone joins on their phone with a QR code, answers against the clock, and the leaderboard does the scoring. No app, no clickers, no marking. Packs include 30 days of online hosting, or host whenever you like with Quiz Box Unlimited.
What makes a good pub quiz night
The best quiz nights feel easy for the teams and effortless for the host. That comes down to a few things:
- Six to eight rounds of ten. Enough to fill an evening, with a break in the middle for the bar.
- A mix of topics. General knowledge, music, sport, film and TV, and a picture round, so every team has a round they're good at.
- Something for everyone. Nobody enjoys scoring nought in round one, so open with a gentle round and save the hardest for last.
- A tie-breaker ready. "Closest answer wins" settles it without an argument. Most of our packs include two.
- Fast, fair marking. Swap sheets between teams, or run it live and let the scores add themselves up.
Paper or phones? Both.
Every pack comes as PDFs you download straight away: a host pack with every question and answer, team answer sheets and, in many packs, a picture round to hand out. That's the classic pub quiz, and it works anywhere.
Or run it live. Put the host screen on your TV, and teams scan a QR code to join on their phones. Each question is timed, the fastest right answers score the most, and the leaderboard appears after every round. Regulars love the race; you'll love not marking forty answer sheets.

Questions
Do players need to download an app?
No. For a live quiz, each team joins in their phone browser by scanning the QR code on your screen and picking a team name. For a paper quiz, they just need a pen and the answer sheet.
What do I need to host it online?
A laptop or tablet connected to your TV or projector, and an internet connection. Players use their own mobile data or your Wi-Fi. Up to 100 phones can join one game, so each team only needs one.
Can I charge an entry fee?
Yes, with a pack that has a venue licence, such as The Complete Pub Quiz or Christmas Quiz Night. Each pack page says which licence it comes with.
How long does a quiz night take?
A six-round quiz of 60 questions usually runs for about two hours on paper, including marking and a break. Live, it runs a little faster because the scoring is instant.
Can I mix paper and phones?
Yes. Many hosts run the live quiz on the big screen and keep the printed answer sheets for teams who prefer pen and paper. The host pack has every answer.
What if the Wi-Fi drops?
Phones reconnect by themselves and keep their scores. If the connection goes completely, you've still got the PDF host pack to carry on the old-fashioned way.
